Rolled Ice Cream, LaMoo Creamery, Arlington, VA

If you haven’t tried rolled ice cream yet, you must experience it for yourself. LaMoo Creamery will help educate you on this delightful, frozen treat! Popularized on the streets of Thailand, the ice cream is spread out on chilled, metal plates to a thin layer and then rolled with a spatula and placed in a cup, ready for a variety of sweet toppings.

Mine was S’Mores: brownie bits mixed into the creamy mixture, then topped with more brownie crumbles, whipped cream, graham crackers and a toasted marshmallow on a chocolate stick.

LaMooCreamery, Arlington VAEnjoy one of the many sweet combinations on the menu at LaMoo Creamery and be mesmerized watching it be created right before your eyes!

Foodie Travel: Favorite Bites in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Recently, I traveled to Minneapolis. Even though it was a brief visit, I fell in love with this city. Here were some of my favorite bites.

Psycho Suzi’s Motor Lounge-Tiki Drinks

How can anyone not like a Tiki Bar? Psycho Suzi’s was a fun place to hang out. People were nice and it was fun to talk with the locals. It was a beautiful night to sit on the patio which has a great view of the Mississippi River and sip a tropical concoction out of a kitschy, ceramic container.

Don’t forget to visit its sister place, Betty Danger for a ferris wheel ride and a round of putt-putt.

Brasa-Roasted Pork Platter

I always say that when you travel, it pays to talk to locals and ask them where they like to go eat. You get to try something that is a favorite that is not for tourists. While sitting and enjoying our drinks at Psycho Suzi’s, we struck up a conversation with the couple sitting next to us. They suggested that we go to Brasa. We enjoyed this delicious meal. The slow roasted pork was tender and the side of pink beans and yellow rice, a typical Caribbean inspired dish, was yummy.

Izzy’s Ice Cream

This is one of the best ice creams places I have ever tried. Again, thanks to a local that suggested it, Izzy’s is worth a trip. I love all the unusual ice cream flavors. Mine was ginger ice cream, passionfruit sorbet and topped with their “Izzy scoop”; a smaller bonus scoop of your choice. Mine was a scoop of grapefruit sorbet,  passionfruit sorbet and ginger ice cream. Refreshing! Nice treat after walking around and seeing this beautiful city.
