Dunkin’ Donuts has released a croissant donut. It is their version of chef Dominique Ansel’s cronut. Making it now easier for everyone that has a Dunkin’ Donuts near them to try this food craze. And the verdict? The flakiness of the layers makes it fun to eat. The simple glaze doesn’t take away from the donut itself. Although I have never tried the New York City version, I have to imagine it might be better. I think I will stick to Dunkin’ Donut’s plain chocolate glazed donut. Sometimes simple is just better. What is your opinion? Have you tried it? Have you tried the original?
I’ve had the original – Dominique Ansel’s version – several times, but I’ve yet to try the Dunkin’ Donuts version. It certainly looks very different, and I imagine that it’s a lot softer and less chewy than Ansel’s version. Interesting to hear someone’s opinion on this, I’ve been curious about it since they announced it!
Casey, are the lines still really long? That is what kept me away when I went to NYC. With my limited time, I didn’t want to waste it waiting to eat something. But I would love to know what you think if you try the Dunkin Donuts version. Thanks for the feedback.
Yeah, the lines are still pretty long. If you get there at 7am (an hour before it opens) on a weekday, you’re pretty much guaranteed to get one. But I get why you didn’t want to wait. Also, they change the flavors every month, and some are better than others.
