If I say Georgetown, what is the first thing that comes to mind? Cupcakes, right? All because of Georgetown Cupcakes made famous by the reality show on TLC, DC Cupcakes. But there are other cupcake shops in Georgetown that don’t get the recognition they deserve. My favorite place to get these sweet treats is Baked and Wired on Thomas Jefferson Street. This store which is tucked down a side street, is divided by the “Baked” side of the store which sells yummy baked goods and the “Wired” side which sells great coffee drinks. Why are these my favorites? Because they are huge and the cupcakes have fun, whimsical names like Chocolate Cake of Doom, Unicorns and Rainbows, Razmanian Devil to name a few. It is hard to decide which one to pick. On this visit, I picked the Elvis Impersonator which is a banana cupcake topped with peanut butter frosting and drizzled with chocolate. I go nuts for anything that has peanut butter. The frosting is the best I ever had; great peanut butter taste and the cake was super moist. Elvis would have loved this cupcake!
